Why you’ll like it:

  • This is a powerful book and one that is sure to stir up some emotions.
  • Sometimes books have the power to take us to situations that we’ve never been to before. One for the Murphys is one of those books. You’ll peak in to a world of a foster child, a foster family, a parent making big mistakes, and a child struggling to figure all of it out.
  • Many of these issues will be new to you, but many things might be more familiar to you. She is the new kid at school where she struggles to fit in and tries to avoid the bullies and mean kids.
  • Carley is a hard kid to figure out, which makes for a really interesting character. Sometimes she feisty and prickly, which makes her angry and difficult to like. Other times she is so fragile that your heart breaks a little bit for her. I guarantee by the end though, you’ll be pulling hard for Carley.
  • While it might seem heavy or even a bit sad, the book leaves you plenty to feel hopeful about. Carley has people in her life who really care about her.
